Girls Scout Troop 2522 from Mamaroneck High School will be selling Girl Scout cookies outside of the Larchmont Blockbuster (corner of Boston Post & Hommocks Roads) on Friday March 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday March 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. Cookies are $3.50 a box. If you’re watching your waistline and still want to be supportive, buy a box or two for the Larchmont/Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force or Military Troops overseas. More

Makin’ History In celebration of "Women in History Month," the Larchmont Historical Society presents, “Women in the Media” with keynote speaker Kiran Chetry, a CNN Co-Anchor on American Morning and Larchmont resident. Ms. Chetry will speak on how far women have come in the news world and share her own personal experiences, which include covering major news stories like 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the War in Iraq. Film Fest Screenings of the highly acclaimed documentary, Pray the Devil Back to Hell, are being held around the world including right here in Larchmont. The film chronicles the story of Liberian women, both Christian and Muslim, who banded together in peaceful protest to bring an end to a bloody civil war in their country. Already the recipient of several film festival awards, Pray the Devil Back to Hell is generating Oscar buzz. Women in the community are invited to attend a screening at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Thursday at 7 p.m. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to 914.834.2981. This screening is being co-sponsored by The Episcopal Church Women of St. John’s and the United Nations Development Fund for Women-Metro NY Chapter. Snow Peeps Almost a foot of snow blanketed Larchmont last week. From a winter wonderland emerged the snow people, who magically appeared on lawns and parks all over town. Was it the work of young mitted-hands or perhaps of those young at heart? We’ll never know. What we do know is that they are a whole lot of fun to behold.
