Mommy Dearest Three cheers for Mom! This week it’s all about Mother. Kids are invited to make gifts for Mom at the Larchmont Library’s “Mad About Mom” event (ages 7 to 11) on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. or the “Love You Bunches” activity (ages 4 to 6) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday kids can make “Mother’s Day” art at the Winter Farmers’ Market from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Can’t figure out what to get Mom for Mother’s Day? Why not honor Mom by helping another Mom. Make a donation in your mother’s name at Furniture Sharehouse, and let her know by sending one of Furniture Sharehouse’s electronic Mother’s Day cards or make your own! For more information visit their website.

Books for Good Encourage reading and support a worthwhile cause! That’s the basis of The Voracious Reader’s newly launched “Books for Good” program. Owner Francine Lucidon will donate 10% of the Palmer Avenue bookstore’s profits to a worthy non-profit organization on the first Thursday of each month. The program kicks off this Thursday in support of the Westchester Children’s Museum. Learn more about the museum here.

Food Drive Larchmont-Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force President Melinda Lehman (seen here with volunteer Abbie Katz on right) needs your help filling the shelves of the food pantry. Larchmont Postal workers are collecting canned goods for the pantry on Saturday. Leave items in your mailbox or drop off at the Post Office. Interested in volunteering your time at the pantry? Visit LMHTF's website for more information.

They work together and celebrate together. Larchmont Dish asked six local mother/daughter business owners how they celebrate Mother’s Day.

Andrea and Mary Ann Mancino, Mancino Custom Tailors & Clothiers
On Mother's Day at the Mancinos, the tradition is a day of gardening. Mary Ann buys all the flowers and her children do all the planting. After all the work is done, the Mancinos celebrate by going out to dinner.

Michelle and Pina Cirillo, The Spa & Salon of Vision of Tomorrow
Three generations of Cirillio women gather at Pina's house to spend Mother's Day cooking a traditional Italian feast complete with homemade pasta. This year cousin Debora from Italy will be joining in on the fun.

Judy Graham and Abbie Graham Durkin with baby Graham, Pink on Palmer
May is a big month for Judy Graham. She gets to celebrate both her birthday (May 2) and Mother’s Day. This Mother’s Day is particularly special because daughter Abbie became a first time mom herself. They’ll be celebrating at home this year.

How are you spending your Mother's Day? Let us know on Larchmont Dish's Facebook page.
