HOUNDS ON THE SOUND Larchmont’s Pet Rescue and the New Rochelle Humane Society are hosting the 3rd Annual Hounds on the Sound dog walk-a-thon and festival on Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CBS News reporter and Larchmont resident Lou Young is cutting the ribbon at the start of the leisurely 1.5 mile walk through Glen Island Park in New Rochelle. A fun day at the park with vendors, refreshments, activities for kids, demonstrations, dog contests, and music follows the walk. Dogs and cats will also be available for adoption. COCKTAILS ANYONE? Larchmont Newcomers' Club (LNC) is hosting a cocktail party tomorrow (Tuesday), 7:30 p.m. at the Post Road Ale House in New Rochelle. If you are new to the area, this is the perfect opportunity to meet and mingle with your new neighbors and learn about LNC. Cash bar and light fare provided by LNC. WALK FOR A CAUSE Yet another walk-a-thon at Glen Island Park this weekend. Larchmonter Bonnie Weinbach is co-chairing the "Walk for Food Allergy” on Saturday, 9 a.m. Meg Hofstedt, a Sophomore at Mamaroneck High School, is the Local Honorary Youth Chair. LACE ‘EM UP Wow. Summer really is over. Hommocks Ice Rink opens for the season on Saturday, 1 p.m. Visit the website to get the complete skating schedule and admission information.

MR. HARMONICA Renowned harmonica virtuso Jia-Yi He performs at the Village Center on Sunday, 4 p.m. Jia-Yi He has  played the harmonica for 47 years and is the recipient of numerous international awards. He brought the judges and audience to their feet on the television show “America’s Got Talent” when he played Mozart on four harmonicas at once. Sample Jia-Yi He’s music here. This concert is made possible by the Friends of the Larchmont Public Library.

FALL FUN It’s the Friends of the Larchmont Public Library’s first ever Scarecrow Festival on Saturday, October 22nd. All ages are invited to get into the fall spirit and create their very own scarecrow! Make it sweet or funny; whimsical or practical. Make it a favorite storybook character or even a lovable family member! All you need is the clothing and your imagination. You’ll receive a life-size metal scarecrow frame (6’H x 2’W) when you register. All scarecrows will be displayed on the lawn of the Larchmont Public Library the day of the Ragamuffin Parade. So come release the inner scarecrow in your family. The amount of fun you’ll have is totally scary! You must register by this Saturday, October 1st to participate.
